Theme: “The gates of hell shall not prevail against these walls.”

Though the neo-gothic spires of St. Patrick’s Cathedral may seem dwarfed by the glass and chrome skyscrapers of midtown, there is a quiet majesty in the pale marble spires and the scalloped finials. Each day, hundreds of people, catholic and not, come to find sanctuary within the vaulted halls of St. Patrick’s. Some say it’s the way the sunlight filters through the the famed rose windows that gives the cathedral it’s magic, others cite the particular way that the candles flicker in the alters to the saints that line the nave… but those who are sensitive to such things know that it is the spirits of the archbishops of New York who lie buried in the crypt beneath the high altar that give Saint Patrick’s it’s curative properties. Silent guardians of the faithful and of those searching for sanctuary in the dark of the night.
